A beautiful October day

IMG_5626_2 nn

October sun and blue sky, a country road
and the silent spin from my cycle wheels,
golden leaves on the trees and ground and
a scent of pine and forest. I’m on my way
home from the bird lake with its cacophony
of screaming waterfowl. But now my heart’s
low and melancholy humming put a gloom
tune over my ride and it prevents me from
enjoy the day and be happy in the moment.
As if to be alone without companions on a
Sunday bike ride is to be nobody!  But it’s a
beautiful day! It’s still a beautiful day! And
that’s what I try to tell myself.  All in vain –
I’m  just sad and feel like an exposed loner.
